Título: “Conversational AI and ChatGPT for Learning: Exploring the Technology and Pedagogy of Conversational AI”
Ponente: Stavros Demetriadis, Professor, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Grecia)
Resumen: The seminar is intended for Master/PhD students and also teachers/researchers who would like to better understand:
a) the technology behind conversational AI and ChatGPT, and
b) the educational implications of this technology (opportunities and risks, theory and relevant research outcomes).
The seminar will follow a lecturing format by the presenter, with time for discussions and self-reflections and is organized in two days, with focus on technology and education respectively. Indicative content of the seminar:
Day-1 (Technology - Monday 25, Sep):
Natural Language Processing (NLP) with emphasis on Word embeddings and Transformers/Attention architectures in Large language models (LLMs). The essentials of Conversational AI and ChatGPT. Conversation design and Prompt engineering techniques (“How to prompt ChatGPT to get useful replies”).
Day-2 (Education – Tuesday 26, Sep):
Opportunities (e.g. educational content generation, language learning, collaborative learning, coding, etc.) and Risks (e.g. reliability and validity, plagiarism, biases and responsible use) when working with ChatGPT. Current theoretical views for understanding the role of Conversational AI and research outcomes related to the actual use of ChatGPT by teachers/students.
Those interested to attend could preferably bring along their own device (e.g. laptop, tablet) and have an active ChatGPT account to explore ChatGPT prompts and interaction following the contents and examples presented.

Notas adicionales: Dado el distinto perfil de cada día (tecnológico vs. de aplicación educativa) se proporcionará certificado por separado si se asiste sólo a uno de los dos días del seminario.
