Organización e información adicional: Ignacio de Miguel (ignacio.miguel@tel.uva.es)

Resumen: The aims are to analyze the importance of including gender perspective in research, to explain what gender perspective in research is, and to identify the particularities of gender perspective in engineering research. These videoconferences are open to the public and part of the IoTalentum course "C-16 Workshop on Gender Balance", organized by Universidad de Valladolid (Spain) with the collaboration of Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (Portugal). IoTalentum is funded by the European Union Horizon 2020 research and innovation program within the framework of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions ITN-ETN with grant number 953442.

Lugar, día y hora:
The lectures have a duration of 8 hours and will be delivered in 3 videoconference sessions. Registration is required. The sessions are:

• Tuesday, 29 March 2022 (11:00 to 13:30 CET). Instructor: Dr. Sònia Estradé (Universitat de Barcelona, Spain)
• Wednesday, 30 March 2022 (11:00 to 13:30 CET). Instructor: Dr. Sònia Estradé (Universitat de Barcelona, Spain)
• Wednesday, 6 April 2022 (11:00 to 14:00 CEST). Instructors: Dr. Débora Regina de São José (Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, Portugal) and Dr. Noemí Merayo (Universidad de Valladolid, Spain).

Videoconferences will be recorded but only available in the framework of the IoTalentum project (so that those Early Stage Researchers -ESRs- of the project not contracted yet can see this course later).

Sobre el ponente:

Dr. Sònia Estradé (Universitat de Barcelona, Spain). Degree in Physics and PhD in Nanosciences. Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona. Specialist in Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS) and in big data applied to EELS, she develops her research work in the LENS-MIND group of the Department of Electronic and Biomedical Engineering of the UB. She has published more than 150 articles in prestigious indexed journals (h factor 38) and has been PI of 8 competitive research projects. She has supervised 6 doctoral theses. She participates in several nanoscience outreach initiatives. She is a member of the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of the UB (IN2UB) and the Interuniversity Institute of Women and Gender Studies. Founding member of the UB Feminist Assembly. She coordinates the Equality Commission of the Faculty of Physics UB, and also chairs the Association of Women Researchers and Technologists of Catalonia. She is a member of the Specialized Group of Women in Physics of the RSEF and of the board of PRISMA. The government of the Generalitat awards her in 2020 the mention M. Encarna Sanahuja Yll for excellence in the inclusion of the gender perspective in university teaching practice.

Dr. Débora de São José (Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, Portugal). Dr. de São José graduated as an Industrial Engineer at Federal University of Ouro Preto (Brazil) in 2012, with emphasis in Energy Planning. During this period she worked for Hindalco, an Indian aluminium production company in the production and power generation areas and as an operational research auxiliar professor. After that, she became a professor in that same university and, later, received an Erasmus Mundus full scholarship for a Ph.D. at University of Porto (Portugal), researching the impacts of climate change in the Brazilian electricity sector and how to mitigate and adapt the sector to such changes (finished in 01/2018). She also worked in a business consulting company as an engineering consultant, in Portugal, providing consulting services on employee empowerment to companies like Efacec, IKEA Industry, Amorim, Ficocables, Coindu, among others. In 2019, while attending a specialization in Sustainable Energies at ISEP, she joined GECAD research team and is currently integrating four research project teams, COLORS, MAS-Society, TradeRES and PRECISE, addressing subjects like smart communities, local energy markets and demand response flexibility.

Dr. Noemí Merayo (Universidad de Valladolid, Spain). Dr. Merayo received her Telecommunications Engineering degree from the University of Valladolid in 2004 and her Ph.D. degree in the Optical Communication Group in July 2009. Since 2005 she works as Lecturer at the Universidad de Valladolid. Her main research focuses on the design and performance evaluation of optical networks, especially passive optical networks, and on the application of artificial intelligence and SDN (Softwared Defined Networking) techniques. She is currently coordinating a Master degree in Physics and Laser Technology. Another main research focus on the integration of e-learning and m-learning techniques in Higher Education degrees as well as leading projects for the promotion of STEM vocations, especially among women.
