What is the process for publishing the thesis in the UVa document repository?
You can find all the information on the UVADoc blog.
Will my thesis be assigned a DOI?
Automatic assignment of DOIs in doctoral theses included in UVaDOC is part of the agreement established between the Doctoral School of the UVa (ESDUVa) and the university library (BUVa), once the improvements of the functionalities in the new version of the DSpace software repository have been implemented.
Can I include published articles in the thesis, and texts, figures or tables from other authors?
The thesis document will be published in electronic repositories, so you should never include published documents, or documents for which you do not have authorisation:
- If you wish to include published articles, simply replace them with the DOI link or their preprint or post-print version;
- In the case of unpublished material (course notes, unpublished books, correspondence, archive material, etc.), you must have the explicit authorisation of the owners of the rights.
The thesis is a scientific document, so if text is inserted, it must always be placed in quotation marks and its source must be cited. If figures or tables from other authors are inserted, their origin must be cited.
