The Doctoral Theses Committee is the EsDUVa collegiate body responsible for quality control of doctoral theses.
Its main functions are:
- To deal with matters relating to the processing of doctoral theses, including decisions on their admission to defence, in accordance with the relevant regulations.
- To define and ensure compliance with procedures that guarantee the quality of the doctoral thesis from its inception to its admission to defence.
- To supervise that the doctoral theses defended comply with the documentary requirements established by the ESDUVa, and by the Doctoral Programme in which the thesis is enrolled.
- To verify compliance with the requirements for obtaining a Doctorate with international mention, industrial mention, or under an international co-supervision regime.
- Propose Doctoral Theses Committees to the Rector in accordance with the applicable regulations.
- Oversee joint supervision agreements.
- Collaborate with the Academic Committees of the Doctoral Programmes for the continuous improvement of the quality of doctoral studies at the University of Valladolid and its doctoral theses.
Doctoral Theses Committee Meetings
At each meeting, the committee reviews doctoral theses that have completed their public presentation and have been in SIGMA with ED status for at least three working days prior to the meeting. Members are notified of the meeting at least two days in advance. The estimated dates of the next meetings are published below, but may vary depending on the availability of committee members and external circumstances.

Doctoral Theses Committee Composition
In accordance with Article 13 of the Internal Regulations of the Doctoral School, the Doctoral Theses Committee is composed of the Deputy Director of Quality of the EsDUVa, who chairs it, and twelve members representing all branches of knowledge. All members are part of the university's teaching staff and have at least two periods of research activity and two supervised theses to their credit.
