Your tutor will guide you through the process, with the advice of the coordinator of your PhD Programme, who must authorise the deposit.

https://esduvadoc.uva.es/normativa/estudios/ACUERDO%20CONSOLIDADO%20DE%20CALIDAD%20DE%20TESIS%2018JULIO22.pdf

No, there isn’t. You just have to follow the cover model that can be found in the forms section.
There cannot be more than one among the five that comprise the examination board.
No, he/she must belong (actively) to a higher education or research institution.
Yes, in accordance with the emeritus regulations of the UVa.
No, they can't.
Yes, they can.
Up to a maximum of one full member and one alternate member may practise their main profession outside the university or research-focused institution. The merits corresponding to this activity should be recorded using document 1T.
When proposing the selection board, it should be borne in mind that no two members can be from the same university, including those from its collaborating institutions: University hospitals are members of their universities. Therefore, for example, if there is already one member from UVa, there should not be another from HCUV or HURH.
There must be no personal, academic or financial conflicts of interest with the PhD student, their directors or tutors, in accordance with art. 23.2 of Law 40/2015. Examples of Conflicts of Interest are as follows:
- Close relationship (consanguinity within the fourth degree or affinity within the second degree).
- During the doctoral studies, having had any appreciable personal, work or academic relationship. For example, there must not have been any joint publications with the PhD student, and if there were any with a director or tutor, they must be marginal and justified.
In addition, they must not work in the same institution, and their institution must not be associated with the EsDUVa. In general, if there are UVa professors in positions in that institution, or if there is a member of that institution that is an official professor of the PhD programme, it would be considered associated. In cases of co-tutelage or application for international mention, you must comply with their specific regulations.
In case of doubt, it is recommended to consult with the EsDUVa before requesting the report.
Yes, as long as there is not already a member of the examining board from UVa, or from an institution or company involved in the thesis, such as the contracting institution in an Industrial Doctorate.
All the institutions in which a member or informant works must be considered. In the documentation, the institution where he/she mainly works should be selected as the main one, but all other institutions should also be specified in the suitability report.
Yes, as long as he/she holds a doctorate degree and meets the necessary suitability criteria. The institutions to which he/she belongs will be indicated in the suitability report. Note that a UVa associate professor also counts as a UVa professor.
The expert and panel members not susceptible to evaluation by tranches must demonstrate that they would more than obtain the positive evaluation in their main area of work: the information provided on the evidence of the quality of their contributions must clearly demonstrate that they would undoubtedly obtain such positive evaluation, so at least five contributions in the last 7 years will be listed. In particular:
- For journal publications, at least the doi, the full name and ISSN of the journal should be included, as well as its impact indexes in the year of publication (or last published), its quartile and its position in the index in the area closest to that of the thesis.
- In areas where books or book chapters are assessed by ANECA, the details of indexation and quality of the publisher should be provided, including whether it is included in the SPI, links to its editorial board, to its peer review information, etc.
In Document 7T, for each contribution, its detailed relationship to the contributions of the thesis is justified.
Yes, each co-author provides a signed waiver, including the justification of the doctoral student's main contribution to the work. If he/she was already a doctor at the date of acceptance of the contribution, it is sufficient to indicate this in the document, always justifying the doctoral student's contribution.
With a visible electronic certificate (firmaelectronica.gob.es). Approximately once every 15 days. The dates are published on the ESDUVa website.
The secretary or the president of the examination board must present notification of the withdrawal either in writing or via email to: tesis.escuela.doctorado@uva.es. One of the deputies appointed by the Rector shall act as deputy.
You can apply for a doctoral degree the day after the scrutiny session of the votes cast by the doctoral thesis examining board for the award of the "cum laude" mention, provided that the secretary of the examining board has delivered the minutes and the reports to the Administrative Section of the Doctoral School.
The scrutiny session is held every Monday.
